4. the hot room

This is the innermost room of the baths. Its temperature was very high and the air was full of steam. To achieve this effect, there was a chamber under the room where hot air circulated and heated the floor. They then poured buckets of water on the floor to produce steam. The bather could get hot water from the basin or directly from the boiler.
